5 foods that can boost your energy
We should all know that eating breakfast, almost no matter what it is, is the one of the most important parts of our day. It is the first thing you will eat. Eating breakfast helps boost your metabolism and gives you energy for the day. However, there are some days that we need a little boost. Sometimes coffee or energy shots help, but they are an unhealthy way to get your source of energy and once the hype goes away, you feel more tired than you did when you took it to give you the boost. Instead of taking energy supplements, try snacking on some healthy sources of energy to give you a natural boost.
Whole Grains
Whole grains are filled with tons of natural and healthy carbohydrates to give you a lasting boost of energy. While your body slowly digests the good carbs from your morning oatmeal into glucose, you will have boosts of energy more than you would if you choose to eat toast using white bread.
Yogurt
If you just want oats and yogurt in the morning it is a perfect combination! Even if you eat yogurt with any type of carb, you will be set for a longer time during the day. Yogurt is a protein and slows down the digestion rate of carbs into glucose which means you will feel good for a longer period of time after a real healthy choice.
Nuts
Having a can of nuts or even just peanuts with you to snack on is a great snack. Nuts are full of protein, fiber, and nutrients. Even eating a peanut butter sandwich will give you an amazing boost. Have that on whole grain bread with a cup of yogurt and by golly you’ll be set all day!
Fruit
Full of natural sugar, vitamins, and minerals, fruit is a perfect snack. Not only are they good for you, but they also satisfy a sweet tooth if you have one. An apple a day really does keep the doctor away. It also gives you a boost of energy.
Dark Chocolate
Whoever thought chocolate would give you a GOOD energy boost instead of a sugar high? Actually, because of the antioxidant flavanol, which is beneficial for heart health, it gives more oxygen to your heart which means more energy throughout the day. However, you have to make sure it is dark chocolate and that it is as unprocessed as possible.
When travelling or at work, pack a healthy snack that will give you an amazing boost of energy. Eat a small healthy breakfast with oats and yogurt then pack nuts and fruit to take with you for the rest of the day. You can even sneak some dark chocolate in there if you want to. With dark chocolate, you will not only get a decent boost of energy and a decent sugar fix, you will also be keeping your heart a bit healthier with the antioxidant called flavanol.
