Exercises to complement healthy eating

Some of the exercise times you are about to read about may be interesting. Please take into consideration that you could be doing High Intensity Interval Training and exercise carefully.

Morning Walks

Mornings are always a nice time to walk, especially in the summer when it’s too hot to do it during the day. Before or after you eat a healthy breakfast, or even while going outside to get the newspaper, try taking a brisk walk up the street before going back inside.

Bored? Do Jumping Jacks

If you are wondering what to do during the day or have some free time you don’t know what to do with, try doing jumping jacks. They are an easy exercise that you can do whenever and wherever. Try doing them for as long as you can and you will sure burn some calories.

Cooking Push-Ups

If you are cooking any meal and are waiting for something to bake, boil, or broil, try doing push-ups on the counter. Position your arms like you would on the floor and just keep doing them until you have to check on the food. If your counters are too low, you could also do them against a wall.

After a Healthy Meal

Don’t just sit around and let your food digest! Go outside and play with the kids or take a walk around the neighborhood. Even doing the dishes is a workout!

Build Your Own Routine

Plan your day out with small exercises. What can you do in the morning? How about after breakfast? There’s always something to do at work. If you plan on going out for lunch, try walking to your destination if you can. After work, try going to a gym or even walk around the store if you need groceries.

Throw Together Exercises

Who says you can’t be like those fitness instructors on TV? Try turning on some music while you cook and dance around. Or if you have free time doing a ton of random exercises. Jumping jacks. Running in place. Push-ups. Anything you can think of.

Eating healthy is only the first step to actually being healthy. It is true that you can lose weight and be healthy just from eating the right way, but sometimes it’s hard to keep eating the way, and what if you get busy and go out a few times a week? There always needs to be something else to complement another. By doing small, maybe weirdly timed, exercises, you can stay healthy and fit. Even if you just plan on walking around your house after a long day, it’s something. If you think it’s easier to choose eating healthy over exercising or the other way around, then it’s all up to you. Just remember that getting off track with just one of these choices can throw off an entire week. If you utilize both to complement each other, then you will notice bigger differences in a smaller amount of time.
